Hello everyone. I tend to play ED on and off, taking the occasional extended break to play other games, then return to find a ton of new stuff and features, which is usually pretty neat. :) I've recently "rediscovered" ED once more, and I've been taking part in the current CG to make some extra money and pew-pew some NPCs. Anyway, at the moment my best "tripped out" ship is my Python I engineered for PvE before my recent break. The ship's a lot of fun and it's quite versatile, but there are some... issues with it I was hoping to get some help with. a) If I can get all the guns pointed at a target and firing, then NPCs tend to melt rather quickly... however, I've noticed that the multi-cannons are often reloading or spinning up. What's even worse is that these guns tend to run out of ammo at different intervals. b) The max speed is great, but I appear to be less nimble than I remember (or the AIs gotten better or I forgot how to pilot; perhaps all of the above), thus keeping enemies where I want them is a bit of a hassle. I've resorted to flying backwards when dealing with a lot of targets, but this has it's own drawbacks. c) The initial idea was to have a fast-recharging, high-resistant shielding system, so that I could shield-tank enemies during fights and have a fairly low cooldown (i.e. waiting for shields) between fights. This... works, at least in an extraction zone. Things aren't as pretty in a combat zone (I've been taking part in the recent CG). At the same time I've noticed people in Fed. Corvettes with almost 100% uptime, which is definitely something I'd like to go for, if possible. To that end I noticed I didn't use the best engineer mods on the shield boosters - I can't remember what was the reason tho... d) NPCs with chaff are super annoying... I can deal with them, eventually, but DAMN that's annoying... I tend to de-target such enemies and try to hit them with lasers only, but then I lose all that multi-cannon damage AND it's sometimes really hard to do with smaller enemies. e) I could probably ditch things like the FSD interdictor, since I found I wasn't using it much (I think I got it to practice interdictions in general and do some bounty-hunting while cruising / or for missions)... but since power is already pretty tight, I don't know what I could put in there anyway! The FSD interdictor is pretty "safe" because it can be turned off during combat with no adverse effects. I was wondering if the above problems are issues with the build, my skills or the ship itself. I could start working on an Anaconda, for example, or perhaps even start grinding the Fed ranks for a Corvette? Anyway, I'm eager to hear your thoughts and would appreciate some tips / help. :)
