Hello. I heard there's going to be an update that'll overhaul basic features sometime next year. Figure I'd drop my wish-list. Reply if you want any elaboration. I may add more later. Basic Mechanics: Piracy: Add ability to reliably disable target ship. E.g. limpet to slow target, that only works when thrusters are destroyed. Improve class 3+ hatch breaker limpet controllers. Instead of more active limpets at once, increase min. cargo drop amount, and increase drop rate. Remove shield-passthrough, make limpets slower to compensate. Smuggling: Separate illegal goods into three tiers, each with different penalties. e.g beer is usually a small fine, narcotics/weapons might be a huge fine, ai relics might be instant bounty. Should vary with gov't and state. Higher demand & much greater profit margins with each tier everywhere except anarchy. Known smugglers could attract more police attention; police interdictions possible in shipping lanes. Police scan ships in much wider area around ports; quicker pathing to ships dropping from SC. Lose tracking ability on cool ships. Stations should not read callsign to ships in silent running. Conflict/Wars: Allow conflict zones to spawn in vicinity of installations, megaships, planetary rings, asteroid belts Fewer conflict zones present at once; conflict zones should move each day of the conflict. Faction dominating conflict may seize control of installations, megaships; Perhaps buff received to war effort, e.g. better ships in conflict zones. On final day of conflict, conflict zone around target spaceborne asset (i.e starport/outpost). Port's weapons deactivated; if starport, close docking bay blast doors. Interdiction: PvP balance: Make 'submitting' carry the same cooldown time as failure to escape currently has, unless you're in a wing with the interdictor. Then, reduce FSD cooldown for failure to escape to what submission does now - basically swapping cooldown times. Then, make relative mass-lock factor affect hyperjump charge time, but by much less than supercruise charge time. This incentivizes people that just want to escape to really try, and people that want to co-operate to submit, meaning there's less confusion around intent for either party, and pirates aren't as incentivized to just start blasting. General: Buff NPC's interdiction skill. This is so it's possible to genuinely lose an interdiction when an NPC pirate attacks. Even in a T9 or cutter, once you realize all you have to do is roll, then add a little yaw and mouse input to reliably escape pirates, you realize they become an entirely optional part of the game. This attempts to fix that. You can still escape once you lose the interdiction, but you can't ignore the threat you accept when you go to lower security areas. Engineering: Instead of having engineers having specialties for module types, have them specialize in profession. For example, right now, you have the laser guy, cannon guy, shield guy, etc... Instead, have the piracy guy, smuggling guy, war guy, bounty hunter guy, miner guy, etc. Each 'profession' can have multiple engineers with different approaches to each profession, e.g shield tank guy vs hull tank guy, small ship guy (drives & speed) vs large ship guy (armor & tankiness). Re-balance upgrades; intent for standard g1-g5 upgrades should be (in my opinion) to specialize your ship, i.e to make you effective at one specific activity, but much worse at all else. In other words, engineered ships should not be outright better then standard ships at anything except for the one thing they were expressly built for. NPC Wings: Allow for hiring of NPC's as part of wing, via several methods. examples: As escort: Buy cargo, then open menu similar to existing crew lounge. Specify target port, specify cargo to be sold there, then receive options for escorts. Each NPC to charge % of profit as NPC crewmates do, alongside fixed hiring cost. As 'teammate': Requires specific faction rep, e.g. friendly. NPC teammate will follow you for some time period (e.g an hour) and aid you in combat. If crime is committed, wingmate should bail on you, unless they were hired from an anarchy faction. Hired NPC wingmate spawns by dropping out of hyperspace after choosing "Hire Escort", and waits for you just outside the no fire zone. Missions: Tie-in NPC wings; Add mission types: Trade escort Pirate attack ( attack target ship / installation / megaship, after discreet meeting with NPC wingmates in target system; follow to mission signal source via wingman nav-lock. Assassination (with wingmates) For missions with mission signal sources, spawn signal sources near interesting places more often, e.g. planetary rings, asteroid belts. Limit spawn distance from star in unary star systems; flying 50,000 ls for no reason isn't fun. Tie NPC Wings to Naval Rank Missions: Follow strike team to warring system, destroy significant target (e.g military courier), or steal military intelligence. Escort ambassador (e.g imperial client/patron) from [Federal System] to [Imperial System]. Misc: Change lists of ships available to NPCs of each Archetype. Pirates should never spawn in Fer-de-Lances/Mambas, or faction ships. Bounty hunters should spawn in Bounty-Hunter ships (e.g. FdL/Mamba) more often than in multipurpose ships. Add 'Explorer' Archetype; spawn in populated systems >~300 Ly from Sol. Ships: Cobra Mk III Asp Explorer Krait Phantom Anaconda A few Bounty hunter NPCs should spawn in resource extraction sites. The ratio of miners to pirates should be adjusted; Weird that many pirates often fight over very few, low-value miners. That, or add security ships by default to low-intensity RES. NPC pirates should (usually) not attempt to steal cargo marked 'stolen'. Pirates of the same faction should never fight each other. NPC pirates from anarchy factions which you are allied to should never attack/interdict you.
