A while ago I posted about my desire for a new large exploration ship when horizons drops. My logic for this was that due to us having to fly the Asp which is a bulky ship and in explorer spec has poor thrusters, or the DBX which is pants at manovering anyway even with good thrusters, us explorers are going to be stuck flying rubbish ships for planetary landing. To counter this problem it's logical for there to be a new larger explorer ship that can carry a small, nimble landing craft in a fighter bay while still managing a 35ly+ jump range. Anyway, I'm feeling very optimistic that the Keelback is just that ship. The reason being is that it's made by Lakon, and they only make two types of ship, explorers and traders. The traders get a T plus number name, while the explorers - the Asp and Diamondback are named after snakes. A Keelback is a snake too! Since Lakon already make a small and medium explorer it's logical that they would also make a large one. I think the Keelback is that ship! FD have said nothing about the Lakon Keelback other than its name so there's been lots of guessing with most assuming it's a new large trader, maybe the Panther Clipper renamed. To me this makes less sense as if Lakon made it you'd expect it to be a T-something, and also Panther Clipper is a cool name so why change it.
