Missing Planet? Something strange happened last night

I'm not sure if this is a bug or something interesting... I'm in a system where the 2nd planet appeared to be missing. It's very strange. I scanned all the planets, while parked by the central sun, but several objects generated "Data Corrupted, Try Again" messages, which alternated with "System Scan Complete" messages. I couldn't "try again" because the associated signal waves no longer showed on the scanner and the number of scanned bodies was complete. Planet 2 was missing on the system and orrery maps. (There was a gap between the 1st and 3rd planets.) I jumped to a nearby system, which I scanned normally, then jumped back to the mystery system. I was able to re-scan a few missing moons, but I couldn't find planet 2. (There was no wave symbol of the right type in the spectrum.) I jumped away and came back. This time, I was able to find and scan planet 2 and its moons, but they didn't show up in the system maps and I got the same Data Corrupted / System Scan Complete messages. I jumped away and then back, scanned the system and aligned my ship to the blue cloud in the scanner and flew out to the missing planet (without doing a planetary scan). When I got close to the planet, my DDS scanner automatically (and successfully) scanned the planet (and its moons). It was late, so I did minimal investigations, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. That is, there didn't seem to be any indication of a discovery, such as an alien installation or Raxxla. Yes, I'm being vague on the system details, until I can determine if this is a bug or a genuine discovery of some kind. The question is: Have any other explorers seen this weird "missing planet" behavior? If I'm unable to find anything odd, I'll post the system name in this thread, once I've sold my exploration data.
